Common Questions: How to Build a Legendbook.
WhAT RESOURCES DO I NEED?
We always start with the basics and work with a large pool of information sources. Partial or outdated record books are great first steps. Old scorebooks from past years are also very useful. We also help to locate newspaper articles and box scores, yearbooks, and any other source of information that can help to bring an accurate history to life.
HOW FAR BACK IN HISTORY DO YOU GO?
We have gone back over 100 years in some cases. Many times it just depends on the access to things like local newspapers and the quality of coverage. But the further we can go, the more credibility of the records.
WHO DIGS DIG UP INFORMATION?
To keep the project cost effective, we work with each school to attract local volunteers to help find what is not available at the school. Our role is to bring our project management and research knowledge to the team. We have learned many tricks to the trade and can help to uncover bits of history that many others might miss. Once the data is accumulated, we then organize it into it's final format.
How IS THE LEGENDBOOK MAINTaINED GOING FORWARD?
For a modest annual fee, Legendbook provides an additional service to help keep your Legendbook updated at the end of each season. When new records are broken, we update the master file and add pictures and videos if available to make sure you can keep building on that success.
How many players do you include for each record?
We recommend up to 5 athletes per each individual record i.e Top 5 career assist leaders, top 5 career rebounders. etc. Each category is different and my include fewer than five. We typically don't recommend to make it an exhaustive list to start.
What Sports do you work with?
At this time, we focus primarily on the major sports - Football, Basketball, and Baseball - but we are not limited to the majors. Each sports request is different and presents unique challenges to building a history. The simple answer is to shoot us an email to set up a call so we can learn more from you.
How long does it take to create a legendbook for each sport?
The duration of each project depends on many factors, including the number and availability of volunteers, access to existing resources, and the amount of records to begin with. A general rule of thumb is that you should budget 60-90 days to build a Legendbook from start to finish.
